Flotilla fleets in Greece
In certain regions of the
Greek waters - notably the
Ionian Sea and the
Saronic - Athens - Flotilla holidays are extremely popular. Indeed,
Flotilla sailing holidays are enjoyed most of the time near Lefkas or Athens, which provide easy sailing without lots of wind or waves. The flotilla fleets here range in size of four to ten charter yachts.
Two disadvantages of flotillas are:
- Some lovely small port cannot be visited due to the number of yachts in a flotilla, some idyllic spots can only serve a couple of yachts. Their lack of accommodations is often their charm.
- You won't see as much of Greece as you would with a bareboat or crewed charter, usually small and short itineraries. Yet, for families this is ideal, children often hate being on the water for more than 2-3 hours.
