Sailing holiday Sporades

One of the most ideal sailing grounds in Greece for a bareboat charter holiday is the island group of the Sporades, also known as the Northern Sporades to distinguish these from the Eastern Sporades which are located just north of the Dodecanese.
Some key islands of the Eastern Sporades:

• Samos
• Patmos
• Ikaria
• Chios or Khios

Some key islands of the (Northern) Sporades:

• Skiathos
• Alonissos (Allonisos or Alonisos)
• Skopelos
• Skyros

There are however two downsides to a sailing holiday in the Sporades:

1. During the main season - August and adjacent weeks - the alluring beaches attract just too many sunburned tourists that party and drink till... Yet, a tremendous boost for the local economy though.
2. Despite the small airport on Skiathos it is difficult to get a flight into the Sporades
