Kalamos - as well as it's neighbour Kastos - is a delightful island just south of Meganisi and real close of the yacht charter bases of Lefkas, Nidri and Preveza
, the latter being the designated airport for these cruising grounds. Sailing Greece around these islands means loads of sun, snorkelling plus very relaxing conditions since the winds rarely exceed 4 Bft in the summer months. For learning how to sail as well as making the transition between flotilla sailing
to bareboat sailing
, these easy waters have proven to be even better than the Saronic Gulf near Athens
. Note, that dinghy experience alone isn't enough to bareboat a sailing yacht here, one needs to familiarise oneself first with manoeuvring the yacht in tight ports plus some navigation skills
are needed to avoid the abundant rocks.
