Sailing Mykonos Cyclades

Sailing Greece - Mykonos

Mykonos is regarded by many as one of the jewels of the Aegean islands and is a highly popular destination in Greece, most notably for sailing holidays on gulets and caiques - motor sailers - and luxury superyachts and megayachts (usually poweryachts that can be chartered per day). And indeed, recently the port of Mykonos has become a base for yacht charters, along with Syros and Paros, so an voyage from Athens is no longer necessary and one can start exploring these beguiling isles directly from within the archipelago.

Mykonos is not only a venue for sailing vacations, also many island hopping tourists and even the gay and lesbian community flock here to enjoy the beaches. Nudism is officially prohibited, but in practise tolerated on quite a few beaches that are simply far away from the capital (Athens). And even nudist sailing is nowadays done in Greece and especially in the Aegean various options are possible: bareboat nudist sailing, cabin charters with crew and private chartered gulets. Note however that nude sailing in these waters can be chilly - the winds are more powerful than for instance in the Ionian or the Saronic Gulf near Athens. Gay and lesbian sailing is best done here though - due to the distance from the capital, where locals - still religious in this part of the world - would take offence.
