Bareboats & yacht charters Greece 
The majority of yacht charters in Greece are bareboats, this opposed to crewed or skippered yacht charters which are naturally more luxurious (cooks and hostesses to pamper the guests) but also intrinsically infringe upon the privacy of the guests. Bareboats - were the guests skipper the yacht themselves - allow for much more privacy although the cooking and cleaning cannot be outsourced.
Athens in the Saronic as well as Lefkas in the Ionian are the primary yacht charter bases from which bareboats or crewed yacht charters are organized, likewise the ports of Kos and Rhodes in the Dodecanese and Skiathos in the Northern Sporades are popular but these venues often require an extra domestic flight from Athens since direct flight are scares or very expensive. Another important starting port is Gouvia marina on Corfu island in the northern Ionian of West Greece.
The so-called blue cruises or blue voyages that are so typical for Turkish cruising can also be found in the Dodecanese, which is adjacent to the Turkish turquoise coasts.
Due to flight connections the major yacht charter agents and companies have offices in Athens and Lefkas.
