Distances sailing Greece
OpenSeaMap
To find the distances between ports, go to OpenSeaMap (alpha version) and navigate to your sailing area. Note that OSM is Open Source and can be downloaded before your cruise.
Via “Tools” you can select “Trip planner”.
On the map, left-click on the starting port (after this, if you move the mouse a thin line appears), left-click again to add further waypoints if necessary, and double left-click on the finish port.
The “trip planner window” shows your total distance and provides download options for waypoint coordinates. Ideal for planning whole itineraries.
Navionics
Alternatively, go to the chartviewer from Navionics and use the nautical divider on the bottom right of the chart. Unfortunately, only one leg at a time – so no trip-planning – and Navionics is definitely not Open Source.
